Tabriz Desk Lamp

A single black cylinder on a counterbalanced arm, pivoting on a slim stem over a weighted disc base, so the light moves without the lamp moving.

The arm is the mechanism. It pivots on a collar partway up the stem with a short tail behind the pivot, so the head stays where you leave it instead of drifting under its own weight, and the head itself tilts separately at the joint. That gives two axes of adjustment from one hand. The shade is a narrow cylinder, which keeps the beam tight over a page or a keyboard rather than washing a whole desk. Everything is powder coated matt black, including the weighted disc base, and the cord is textile covered with a toggle switch on it.

Where it works: a home office desk, a hallway console, or beside a chair in a reading corner.

The lamp output is capped lower than most task lamps allow, so if you read at this desk every evening, check the brightness of the lamp you choose before committing.
