A round panel of natural alabaster mounted flush to the wall, with two flat brass blades crossing its face and meeting in a V below the centre.

The stone is the body of the fitting: a thick alabaster round, cut so its natural veining and cloud stay visible, translucent enough to carry light through rather than bounce it off. Across the front, two flat brass blades run down at an angle and meet at a point, held slightly proud so they cast their own shadow onto the stone behind. That is the whole design. There is no arm and no shade, so the fitting sits almost flat on the plaster, and because alabaster is quarried rather than manufactured, the veining on the piece you receive will not match the photograph exactly.

Where it works: as bedside lights either side of a bed, along a hallway, or on a landing where a flush fitting keeps the circulation clear.
