The finish is the whole character of this one. It is a warm brass that has been antiqued rather than polished, so the surface carries a mottled brown patina that moves between gold and bronze depending on the light falling on it, and it will not read as a clean metallic gold in a bright room. The shade is a wide shallow cone with a rolled edge, closed at the top by a stepped bell shaped neck that gives the fitting an older, more industrial profile than a plain cone would. Light goes almost entirely downward, so it wants to hang low over something.

Where it works: in a row over a kitchen island, low over a hallway table, or singly in a bedroom corner.
