Three ribbed clear glass shades hung from a single gold bar, so one ceiling point lights the length of an island.

Each shade is the same squat rounded glass form, flattened top and bottom, pressed in fine vertical ribs that break the lit bulb into stripes. Three of them in a line do something a single pendant cannot: the light overlaps between them and covers a long surface evenly instead of pooling in one spot, and the cluster reads as one fitting rather than three separate pendants. They hang from a slim gold bar on black flexes, and because the glass is clear the bulbs are on show, so the choice of lamp matters as much as the fitting. The flexes can be set at different heights or run level.

Where it works: along a kitchen island, over a long dining table, or above a living room console where a run of light is more useful than a single point.
