A sage green ribbed glass capsule on a matt black disc, cool toned and quiet rather than decorative.

Sage is a greyed green, and in glass it behaves like smoke with a colour cast: it holds its tone in daylight, then goes noticeably warmer and softer when the lamp inside is lit. The shade is pressed into fine vertical ribs, open at the top, so the bulb shows through as a row of bright vertical lines and the green reads darkest where the glass curves at the shoulder. The base is a low black painted disc, which keeps the whole thing anchored and stops the green drifting towards mint. Mains powered, with the shade fitting on at home.

Where it works: on a bedside table, a hallway console, or a home office shelf, next to timber and stone rather than bright colour.
