Marand Table Lamp

A smoked grey ribbed glass capsule on a matt black disc, the darkest and quietest version of this lamp.

Smoked glass is the one that works unlit as well as lit. In daylight it reads as a solid grey object with the ribs picking out fine highlights; switched on, the smoke knocks the glare off the bulb and turns it into a warm amber core behind a grey screen, which is a far softer effect than clear glass gives. The shade is pressed into vertical ribs and open at the top, and it sits on a low black painted disc, so there is nothing bright anywhere on the lamp. Mains powered, with the shade fitting onto the base at home.

Where it works: on a bedside table, a living room side table, or a home office desk where a lamp that stays dark when off is an advantage.
