Galugah Wall Light

A ribbed clear glass cylinder on a slim matt black arm, wired with a plug and an in-line switch so it goes up anywhere there is a socket.

The shade is pressed glass with deep vertical flutes running the full height of the cylinder, gathered into a rounded shoulder at the top and held by a black collar. Clear glass means you see the lamp inside, and the flutes break that filament into a run of narrow bright lines rather than one hard point. The arm cranks out from a round backplate and turns down, so the shade hangs clear of the wall instead of pressing against it. Nothing is wired in: the cable drops from the backplate to a plug.

Where it works: at bedside height for reading, along a hallway, or above a desk in a home office. No wiring, so it suits rented flats and walls you would rather not chase out.

A warm white LED suits this one. Clear glass shows the lamp, so a decorative filament-style bulb looks better here than a bare frosted globe.
