Azadshahr Wall Light

A pale sage green glass cylinder, deeply fluted, hung from a matt black arm and wired with a plug rather than wired into the wall.

The tint is soft, closer to a sea glass green than a bottle green, and because the glass is coloured rather than painted the colour deepens where the flutes are thickest and lightens across the ribs. Lit, it throws a gentle green cast onto the wall behind it. The cylinder has a rounded shoulder and sits in a black metal collar under a cranked arm that lifts off a round backplate. The cable drops down the wall to an in-line switch and a plug, so nothing needs an electrician.

Where it works: a bedroom where the green softens a neutral wall, a hallway that needs colour at eye level, or a living room alcove. Plug in, so it suits rented homes.

Coloured glass eats a little light, so go for a warm white LED at the brighter end rather than a dim filament lamp.
