Bukan Table Lamp

Two stacked wood effect spheres in a warm mid brown carry a tall cylinder shade wound in cream cotton rope, a soft rounded lamp that reads more like an object than a fitting.

The base is two flattened spheres set one above the other on a short stem, finished in a pale wood effect with a printed grain. It is worth being exact about that, because the supplier's own materials list gives iron, cotton, cotton rope, spandex and PVC and no timber at all, so the wood here is a finish rather than a material. The shade is where the texture lives: a straight sided cylinder wound tightly in cream cotton rope, so the light escapes between the windings in fine horizontal lines and the shade glows rather than glares. It is Class 2, so no earth is needed.

Where it works: on a bedroom chest of drawers, on a living room side table, or on a hallway console where a rounded shape softens a run of hard edges.
