A single alabaster capsule on a black braided cord, small enough to hang in a row without the ceiling filling up, and warm enough to work alone.

The shade is a short cylinder of natural alabaster with a rounded base, capped in matt black metal where the cord enters. The stone is cut thin so it transmits rather than blocks, which is why it reads as a soft warm mass rather than a bright source, and the veining running through it is different on every piece. The cord is braided black fabric from a plain round canopy, and the whole fitting is deliberately small, which is what makes it work in a run of three over an island or singly beside a bed.

Where it works: as a bedside drop beside a bed, in a row of three over a kitchen island, or in a hallway where a small quiet fitting suits the space.
