Mandana Chandelier

Six alabaster shades set around a slim brass ring, each one lit from the inside so the stone glows rather than glaring. It reads as an object first and a light fitting second.

The frame is a plain brass ring hung on three fine cables from a round canopy, with six alabaster shades spaced evenly around it and held in knurled collars finished a shade darker than the ring. Alabaster is cut thin enough to pass light, so each dome carries its own veining and glows evenly from within instead of showing a hot filament. The shades sit upright rather than facing straight down, which spreads light sideways across a room instead of pooling it on one surface.

Where it works: over a dining room table, above a kitchen island, or centred in a living room with the ceiling height to carry it.
