Dehloran Pendant Light

A drum shade woven from fine seagrass strands over a black steel frame, hung on a black cable in a simple suspension from the ceiling plate above.

Seagrass is strung vertically and packed tight around the drum, so the shade reads as a striped natural texture with paler and darker fibres alternating around it. Lit, the gaps between the strands glow and cast a soft striped pattern outwards, while the open bottom sends most of the light straight down onto whatever sits below. The frame and cable are black steel, which stops the fitting reading as beach house in a room that is not one.

Where it works: over a dining room table, in a bedroom, or above a desk in a home office.

A natural woven shade this close to the lamp is not the place for a hot filament bulb. Fit a cool running LED.
