One wide woven seagrass drum shade hanging on a black flex with three lamps inside it rather than three separate drops.

The shade is grasscloth wrapped so the strands run vertically, loose enough in the weave that light comes through the sides as a warm speckled glow as well as falling straight down through the open bottom. It is wide enough to cover a round dining table or the length of an island, and running three lamps inside one shade rather than one gets the light level up without making the shade any deeper. The flex and the ceiling plate are black steel, which grounds a natural material against a white ceiling. It reads as one object rather than as a cluster.

Where it works: over a dining table, above a kitchen island, or in a dining room where one wide shade suits better than a row of small ones.
