Golshah Pendant Light

A large faceted body of smoked grey glass, bolted together with brass studs, with a perforated holder inside that throws a field of small dots through the panels.

Flat panels of smoked glass are cut and set at angles into a lantern frame, so the whole shade reads as one big ground gem rather than a shade with sides. Brass studs hold each panel at its corner and are the only fixing on show. Inside, the lamp sits in a perforated metal sleeve, so what comes through the smoked panels is a pattern of small warm points rather than an even wash. Because the glass is smoked rather than clear, the fitting stays dark and heavy looking when it is switched off, which suits a room with other dark surfaces in it.

Where it works: over a kitchen island, above a dining table, or as a single drop in a hallway.
