Ilam Wall Light

Two frosted glass tubes, one pointing up and one pointing down, gripped in the middle by a single brass band on a round backplate.

The whole fitting is two capsules of frosted glass and one cylinder of brass. The band sits at the centre and does all the holding, so the tubes appear to float either side of it, and the round backplate behind keeps the footprint small. Frosted glass scatters light through the wall of the tube rather than letting the lamp show, so each end reads as an even glowing column and the light washes both up the wall and down it. The glass carries a faint mottling, which is normal in this kind of pressed frosted tube.

Where it works: along a hallway, as a bedside pair, or on a landing where light needs to travel both up and down the wall.
