An alabaster bowl held inside an open bronze frame, so the stone appears to float in a cage of straight lines with nothing visible holding it.

Two rectangular bronze frames cross at right angles to make an open box, and the alabaster bowl sits low inside it. The bowl faces upward, so most of the light goes to the ceiling and comes back down soft, with only a low warm glow escaping through the stone itself. Alabaster is cut thin enough to pass light and it holds its own veining, which is what stops the bowl looking like a plain white dish when it is lit. The frame is dark and thin enough to read as a drawing in the air rather than as bulk.

Where it works: over a dining table, in a hallway or on a landing with height, or as the single object in a living room.
