Eight opal glass globes set around a flat antique brass ring, alternating high and low so the circle reads as a wave rather than a flat band.

The frame is a wide flat band of antique brass with the globes fixed directly to it, some set above the band and some below, which is what keeps a simple ring from looking mechanical. Opal glass is white through its whole thickness rather than coated, so each globe lights evenly and the lamp inside never shows as a hot spot. Suspension is on fine clear cables from a dark canopy, so from below the frame appears to hover. Antique brass is a warm, slightly aged tone rather than a bright yellow.

Where it works: over a dining room table, above a kitchen island, or centred in a living room.
