The arch is the useful part: the base sits beside a chair and the shade lands over it, so you get overhead reading light without a floor lamp standing in front of your knees. The glass runs in a gradient from mirrored copper at the shoulder to clear at the rim, so the shade reads warm and reflective from the room and drops a clean pool of light straight down. A foot switch is fitted in the cable, and the base is a weighted black disc that keeps the arch stable.

Where it works: beside an armchair in a reading corner, over one end of a living room sofa, or in a bedroom corner.

A clear filament bulb suits the graduated glass well. The supplier's own colour field lists two frame finishes, so confirm you are getting the matt black shown here before ordering.
