Vahshi Chandelier

A flat halo of smoked crystal beads packed tight around a steel ring, hung on fine cables so it reads as a band of light with no visible structure at all.

Thousands of small faceted beads are wrapped over the frame in close rows, which is why the ring has a soft woven surface rather than a hard edge. The crystal is smoked rather than clear, so it carries a warm champagne cast even before it is switched on, and lit it throws small broken highlights rather than the cold prisms a clear bead would give. The frame underneath is steel, which the supplier states is used instead of brass for strength at this diameter. Suspension is on three fine cables from a flat canopy.

Where it works: over a dining room table, centred in a living room, or dropped into a stairwell where it is seen from below and above.

Smoked crystal takes the edge off the sparkle, so do not sell it as a clear crystal fitting. The lamp count is still unknown.
