Katayoun Floor Lamp

A brass stem that arches out over a room and drops a clear glass bell shade exactly where the light is wanted, held down by a weighted disc base.

The stem sweeps up and over in one curve from a solid round base, so the shade hangs out beyond the foot rather than directly above it. That is what makes it work behind a sofa or beside an armchair, where a straight lamp would have to stand in the walkway. The shade is clear glass, bell shaped, in a knurled antique brass holder with an adjustable knuckle so the angle can be set once it is in place. Clear glass puts the bulb on show, so it asks for a decorative filament style rather than a bare frosted lamp. A solid, weighted disc base is what keeps the long arch stable without tipping forward.
