Clear glass means you see the lamp, so the bulb is part of the design rather than something to hide. The arched stem is polished nickel plated steel, bright enough to pick up the light in the room, and the collar and holder are knurled, a machined grip pattern that stops the fitting reading as plain tube. It stands tall for a desk and works well on a sideboard or a console. The switch sits on the weighted base. A soft filament lamp is worth the money here because you will be looking straight at it.
