Twelve heavy crystal prisms stood in a ring around an open brass cage, with curved brass arms and the lamps visible through the glass behind them.

The prisms are thick rectangles of crystal glass, each cut with five faces and clamped top and bottom into the frame so they stand upright in a continuous band. Behind them the brass arms curve inward and carry the lamps, and because the crystal is clear you see straight through to that structure, which is part of the look rather than something hidden. Lit, the cut faces break the light into hard bright points and throw coloured fringes onto the ceiling. The supplier states the mounts are stainless steel finished in burnished brass.

Where it works: over a dining room table, centred in a living room, or hung in a stairwell where it is seen from more than one level.
