Eight smoked glass globes set at staggered heights along a slim black bar, so the light breaks up across a table instead of running in one flat line.

The frame is a linear matt black bar with short cross arms, and every arm carries a smoked glass globe. Some sit above the bar and some hang below it, which is what stops the piece reading as a row of identical lights. Smoked glass takes the glare off each bulb, so each globe reads as a soft amber point rather than a hard white one, and the fitting still looks considered when it is switched off. It is scaled for a kitchen island or a rectangular dining table, and it hangs from a rectangular ceiling plate on adjustable steel cables.

Where it works: over a kitchen island, along a rectangular dining table, or in a dining room with clearance either side of the span.
