Rudabeh Table Lamp

A solid block of clear crystal, bored through and lit from inside by two bulbs, standing on a plain round brass base.

The cube is the shade, the diffuser and the object all at once. Cylindrical channels are bored into the block and the bulbs sit down inside them, so the light travels through the thickness of the crystal and comes out of every polished face at a different brightness. The flat faces also mirror each other internally, which is why a single pair of lamps reads as several. The base is a plain round brass disc with a cable running off it, so it sits on furniture rather than being wired into a wall.

Where it works: on a bedside table, on a hallway console, or on a home office desk as a low light rather than a task light.
