There is no shade anywhere on this fixture: the open cage-like frame is the whole design, two intersecting rectangular loops of slim black metal that cross through a central hub, with four brass lamp sockets set along the lower rectangle. Each bulb sits fully exposed, so the fitting reads as a piece of geometric hardware as much as a light source. It hangs from an adjustable pole, and the open frame means it reads the same from every angle around an island.

Where it works: centred over a kitchen island or a long dining table where the geometric frame can be seen from more than one side.
