Zahedan Table Lamp

A brushed brass stem that arches over from a round base and hangs a bell of smoked glass out in front of it, with the lamp left visible inside.

The glass is tinted a warm smoke, dark enough to soften a filament lamp into an amber core and light enough to keep it visible, which is the whole point of a shade shaped like this one. It is blown as a bell, wide and slightly folded at the rim and drawn into a narrow neck at the top where it meets the arm. The metal is a brushed finish in a warm brass tone on a shallow round foot. It stands tall for a side table lamp and reaches forward, so it lights the surface in front of it rather than the one it sits on.

Where it works: on a bedside table, on a hallway console, or on a home office desk where a little forward reach is useful.

A clear filament candle lamp suits smoked glass better than an opal one does. Do settle the finish question first: the description and the photograph do not agree.
