Mirjaveh Table Lamp

A turned wooden column in a grey washed finish, topped with a cream linen shade that keeps the light soft and close to the table it stands on.

The base is solid wood, turned into a fluted baluster design that steps down onto a square plinth, then given a grey wash so the grain still reads through the colour. It is a shape borrowed from older English furniture, which is why it settles so easily beside painted or waxed pieces rather than fighting them. The shade is cream linen, tapered rather than straight sided, and the open weave lets a little light through the sides while sending most of it down onto the surface below. An in-line switch on the flex means you are not reaching behind furniture to turn it off. The lamp is light enough to move between rooms easily.

Where it works: on a bedside table, on a hallway console, or on a side table beside an armchair in the living room.
