Aras Pendant Light

A sphere of copper mirrored glass on a matt black cable, warm and reflective on the outside and softly lit from within when a filament lamp is fitted.

The shade is glass with a copper mirror coating on the inside, so from across a room it behaves like a polished metal ball and reflects the whole room back at you, while up close you can see the lamp glowing through it. Below the horizon of the globe the coating thins, which is what lets a warm pool of light fall onto a table. The suspension is a plain matt black cable from a small black ceiling plate, adjustable at installation, and the deliberately plain hardware keeps all the attention on the copper. Steel and glass throughout.

Where it works: low over a dining table, in a row over a kitchen island, or singly in a hallway against a dark wall.

A clear filament LED looks far better in this than a frosted lamp, because the mirrored glass shows the lamp as part of the design.
