Yazd Ceiling Light

Two tiers of fine jute cord wound over open frames, stacked so the lower ring sits inside the upper one and light escapes between the strands.

The shade is built from jute cord wound tightly around wire frames, close enough to read as a solid surface from a distance and open enough that the lamp inside shows as a soft glow through the gaps. Two tiers are stacked with the narrower ring dropped below the wider one, which breaks the silhouette and throws a second band of light onto the ceiling. Raw jute has a faint silky shine to it, so the fitting warms rather than flattens the light passing through. It sits flat to the ceiling on a matt black canopy.

Where it works: a bedroom, a living room, or a hallway where a low ceiling rules out a hanging shade.
