Gonabad Table Lamp

A faceted base of jute cord wound over a metal frame, widest at the waist and drawn in at both ends, under a plain cream drum that keeps the light even.

The base is the interesting half. Jute cord is wound around a faceted wire form so the strands follow the angles and the shape reads as cut rather than turned, and because the winding is open the lamp inside glows faintly through the base as well as the shade. That gives two light sources from one bulb: a soft downward pool from the drum and a low warm halo at table level. The shade is a plain cream textile drum, wide enough to spread rather than spotlight. The lamp is supplied with a fabric covered cable and a toggle switch.

Where it works: a bedside table, a hallway console, or a living room sideboard where the glow through the base is worth seeing.
