Shapur Pendant Light

A straight bar with three opal glass globes slung beneath it, each one half capped in brushed brass so the light falls down rather than out.

The bar is the point: one clean linear run hung on two fine cables, with the three spheres spaced evenly along it and no visible clutter. Each globe is opal glass, which diffuses the lamp rather than showing it, so what you see is an even white sphere and not a filament. The brass coloured cap over the top half of each globe blocks the upward light and pushes it down onto the surface below, which is why this reads as a working light over an island rather than a decorative one. The drop adjusts generously, so it suits a tall room as easily as a standard one.

Where it works: over a kitchen island, along a dining table, or on a long console in a hallway.
