Karkas Pendant Light

A natural linen drum with a slightly waisted profile, carried on a slim brass plated wire frame that sits outside the shade rather than hidden inside it.

Most fabric pendants hide their frame. This one puts it on show: a thin metal cage of vertical struts and a top and bottom ring, brass plated and warm against the oatmeal linen, so the shade appears to be slung inside it. The linen is coarse enough to show its weave when lit, which is what stops the drum from reading as a plain cylinder, and the slight inward curve at the waist keeps the silhouette from being straight sided. The cord is transparent, so the run down from the canopy stays as quiet as possible.

Where it works: over a dining room table, in a bedroom, or in a living room where the exposed frame has something to talk to.

One honest caveat: the clear plastic cord is the plainest part of an otherwise good fitting, and there is no fabric flex option in the supplier data.
