Garshasp Floor Lamp

Five cream linen drum shades staggered up a slim cream stem, alternating left and right, so one floor lamp lights a corner at five different heights.

Each shade is a small linen covered drum on its own short arm, and they climb the stem in a tiered zig zag rather than sitting in a straight column. The effect is layered rather than bright, five separate soft pools instead of a single hard source, which is why it works in a living room corner where a reading lamp would be too directional. The shades are a warm oatmeal cream with a visible fabric weave, and the stem and the round base are painted the same tone so the metalwork disappears.

Where it works: a living room corner beside a sofa, a bedroom, or a reading corner where a layered glow is wanted rather than one bright source.
