Katayoun Wall Light

A square sheet of brushed brass rolled over at the top and the bottom, so it sits almost flat on the wall and throws light out of both curves.

There is no shade and no glass here, just a folded brass panel and the two lamps behind it. The centre of the panel is flat and reflects nothing much, which keeps it quiet, and the curves at the top and bottom are what catch the light and turn it back into the room. Brushed brass reads warm and does not mirror the room like a polished finish would. It projects very little, so it works in a corridor where anything with an arm would be caught by a shoulder.

Where it works: along a hallway, either side of a living room chimney breast, or above a bedroom headboard.

Up and down fittings show every flaw in the plaster behind them, so check the wall before the fitting.
