Dorud Pendant Light

A flat brass disc on a short stem with a bare filament globe below it, hung from a black cable and stripped of everything else.

There is no shade. The disc sits horizontally above the lamp and reflects a little warmth back down, and the rest of the light goes wherever the lamp sends it. That makes the choice of lamp the design decision, because a clear globe throws a hard bright pattern and an opal one will not. Burnished brass moves in colour over time, so a run of three hung together will drift slightly apart from each other, which is either the charm of the thing or a complaint depending on the customer.

Where it works: in a run over a kitchen island, above a dining table, or singly as a bedside drop.
