Lar Flush Ceiling Light

A small round brass canopy with a deep knurled holder below it and a bare filament globe hanging out of the bottom.

This is the plainer of the two flush fittings in the range and the knurl is what carries it. The holder is a thick brass cylinder with a milled grip cut into it, which gives the fitting a machined look rather than a decorative one, and the canopy above is only just wider than the holder itself. There is no shade and no glass, so the lamp is the whole of what you see and the brass simply frames it. Burnished brass darkens with age and with handling.

Where it works: a hallway, a landing, or a low ceiling where anything hanging would be in the way.
