Fariborz Table Lamp

A pale ribbed body with a dark reactive glaze that has run down over its shoulder in a broad band, under a plain cream linen shade.

The glaze is the product. A near black band has been poured around the shoulder of a rounded body and allowed to run, so it breaks into fingers and drips over a cream and pale blue ground, and no two pieces come out of the kiln alike. Below the band the body is finely ribbed from the waist down, which catches the light in vertical lines and stops the lower half going flat. The shade above is a plain tapered linen in cream with a dark ball finial, deliberately quiet so the base can do the talking. It takes a single lamp on an in-line switch.

Where it works: on a bedroom chest of drawers, on a living room console, or on a wide side table where the glaze can be seen from a seat.
