Bardia Pendant Light

A thick loop of alabaster twisted so that it rises, crosses over itself and comes back down, carried on four slim leather straps.

The whole piece is one continuous run of stone, turned and worked so the section stays even while the loop twists through itself. Because the form never repeats, it reads differently from every side, and from below the crossing point sits directly overhead which is where the light concentrates. The alabaster is cut thin enough to pass light along its length, so the loop glows rather than lighting a room, and the leather straps that carry it are left plain so nothing competes with the stone.

Where it works: over a dining table, in a living room as the single object in the space, or in a hallway with real height.
