Golafshan Pendant Light

A wide ribbed shade in mouth blown opal glass, flattened into an ellipse and hung under a plain brass collar on a slim rod.

The ribbing runs from the shoulder to the base in fine even flutes, and because the glass is opal rather than clear it reads as texture rather than as a pattern of bright and dark lines. The shape is the other half of it: wide and low rather than dropping like a bell. The lamp is completely hidden, so nothing shows but an even glow across the whole surface. A brushed gold collar caps the shade where the rod meets it, and the drop adjusts to a maximum length.

Where it works: over a dining table, above a kitchen island, or in a bedroom as a hanging bedside light.

One detail that is easy to miss in the photograph: the canopy and cable are light grey, not brass. If you are matching brass fittings elsewhere in the room, that is the part that will not match.
