Barzin Wall Light

Two rectangular alabaster slabs set at different depths so that one overlaps the other, standing on a small brushed brass base.

The interest is entirely in the offset. Two flat panels of stone are hung side by side but at different depths, with a small brass stud showing on the face of the front one, and the shadow line where they cross is what stops the fitting reading as a single flat rectangle. Because the two slabs are cut from different pieces of alabaster, their veining does not continue across the join, which is inherent to natural stone. The brass base is small and sits at the bottom, taking the weight and nothing else.

Where it works: on a hallway wall, in a living room beside a chimney breast, or in a bedroom as a pair.
