Mazandaran Wall Light

A solid brass tube on a round backplate with a bare lamp at each end, in a burnished brass that keeps its warmth instead of going brassy yellow.

The linear bar is solid brass all the way through, so the burnished finish is part of the metal and will not flake at the corners the way plating does. Burnishing knocks back the raw yellow and leaves a softer, slightly aged gold that keeps its colour under warm lamps. Both lamps are exposed at the ends of the tube with no shade over them, which makes this a low, atmospheric light rather than a working one, and puts the lamp you choose on full display.

Where it works: as a bedside pair, along a hallway, or flanking a mirror in a living room where the light needs to be soft.
