Bahman Floor Lamp

A matt black steel stem that runs up in a slow wavy curve, carrying a pleated raffia cone shade. The stem is the ornament and the shade keeps the light soft.

The stem is bent into two full curves between the base and the shade, so from the side the lamp reads as a drawn line rather than a pole. It is a smooth matt black powder coat with no joints showing. The shade is raffia, pleated into narrow vertical folds, which breaks the light into fine stripes and glows a warm honey colour when lit. The base is a shallow black disc, small relative to the height of the stem. It is a light fitting in every sense, so it wants a spot where it will not be knocked.

Where it works: beside an armchair in a living room, in a reading corner, or in a bedroom where a wall light is not an option.

Raffia and pleats hold dust, so plan on a soft brush now and then. And because it is light on a tall frame, keep it clear of the traffic through a room.
