A long brass plate hung with solid clear glass teardrops at staggered heights, sized to run the length of an island or a dining table rather than sit over its centre.

Each drop is a thick piece of clear glass pulled into a teardrop, heavy at the base and thinning to the brass cap, so it holds a lens of light at the bottom and throws a bright point onto the surface below. They hang on black fabric cables at different lengths from a rectangular burnished brass plate, which is what stops a row of identical shades from reading as a strip light. Clear glass means the lamp inside is visible, so the lamp you fit is part of the look.

Where it works: along a kitchen island, over a long dining table, or in a dining room where the fitting is meant to be the main event.
