A round burnished brass plate hung with solid clear glass teardrops at staggered lengths, so the cluster reads as falling rain rather than a fixed ring of shades.

Every drop is thick clear glass, heavy at the base and drawn up to a brass cap, and each one holds a lens of light at its lowest point. They hang on black fabric cables cut to different lengths from a single round plate, which is what turns a group of identical shades into a composition. The whole cluster is close to a metre across, so it needs a room with height and a clear line of sight from below, where the staggered lengths can actually be seen.

Where it works: over a dining room table, in a double height hallway, or dropped into a stairwell void where the staggered lengths are read from the side.
