Papi Wall Light

A single solid glass teardrop hung from a slim stem off a rectangular burnished brass backplate, with the lamp visible inside the clear glass.

The backplate is a flat rectangle of solid brass, burnished rather than polished, so it reads as a quiet block of warm metal against the wall instead of a mirror. From it a short stem drops the shade clear of the plate, which is what gives the fitting its lightness. The shade itself is thick clear glass drawn into a teardrop, heavy at the base, so it holds a lens of light at the bottom while the brass lamp holder stays on show through the glass above it.

Where it works: as a bedside pair, along a hallway, or either side of a fireplace in a living room.
