A single solid glass teardrop on a slim stem off a rectangular backplate, in a burnished bronze dark enough to read as black against a pale wall.

The backplate is a flat rectangle of solid brass under a burnished bronze finish, so the colour sits in the metal and the corners will not wear back to yellow. A short stem holds the shade clear of the plate, which keeps the fitting from looking heavy. The shade is thick clear glass pulled into a teardrop with a weighted base, so it collects a bright lens of light at the bottom while the dark lamp holder stays visible through the glass above.

Where it works: as a bedside pair, along a hallway, or either side of a mirror in a living room.
