Nastaran Wall Light

A flat panel of vertical clear glass rods held top and bottom in a solid brass frame, lit from behind so the whole face glows in bands rather than points.

The rods are round in section and set side by side across the full width of the frame, which is what gives the fluted look and what makes the light behave the way it does. Each rod picks up the lamp behind it and passes it on, so the face reads as horizontal bands of warm light broken by fine vertical lines rather than as a single bright panel. The frame is solid brass in a burnished finish, flat against the wall, and the whole thing sits closer to a museum display case than to a conventional wall light.

Where it works: along a hallway where the vertical rows draw the eye down the wall, or in a living room as a pair either side of a fireplace.
