Azadeh Floor Lamp

A slim cream pole on a low disc base, with a long counterbalanced arm that reaches well out and a narrow cylinder head on the end of it.

The arm pivots on a single joint partway up the pole, so it tips and swings rather than folding, and the short tail behind the pivot balances the head at the far end. That is what lets a slim cylinder head hang out over a chair without the whole lamp wanting to fall over. The head itself tilts separately, so the beam can be aimed at a page rather than at the room. Everything is powder coated in a matt cream, including the base, and a textile cord runs to a moulded plug.

Where it works: in a reading corner beside a chair, in a living room next to a sofa, or over a desk in a home office.
