Farhad Floor Lamp

A brushed brass stem that runs up straight then arches over, dropping a rippled champagne glass globe out beyond the base and over a chair.

The glass is a warm champagne lustre with a dimpled ripple pressed into it, so the lamp inside breaks into dozens of small bright points instead of showing as one filament. It hangs from the top of the arch, open at the bottom, which sends most of the light down onto a book while the rest scatters through the glass. The stem and the weighted disc base are a brushed brass plating, matt enough not to fight the glass. It stands tall and reaches well forward, and the weighted base holds it steady. A floor switch sits on the cable.

Where it works: over an armchair in a living room, in a reading corner, or beside a bedroom chair.
