A straight brushed nickel bar just over a metre long carrying six cylindrical spot heads, each one adjustable, with the lamps left to you.

The bar is a plain rectangular section fixed flat to the ceiling, with six barrel heads spaced evenly along it and set alternately so they can be aimed in two directions at once. Each head swivels and tilts on its own, so the bar can wash a run of worktop, pick out three separate zones, or point everything one way. The heads take a standard spot lamp, so the beam angle is yours to choose rather than the manufacturer's.

Where it works: across a kitchen island, along a home office desk run, or in a living room aimed at shelving.

Buy six identical lamps in one go. Mixing colour temperatures across a single bar is the fastest way to make a good fitting look cheap.
